Ongoing PSW Trainings

Regarding the creation of innovative income opportunities to the targeted women, WFN has been running the three months Personal Support Worker (PSW) Training from the 1st January 2022. Despite the difficult and unexpected Corona situation occurred, trainings are running smoothly due to the strict safety measures. The main objective of the project PSW Training is strengthening the social participation and self-determination of disadvantaged women from Kathmandu, and the regions Bhaktapur, Kavre, Sunsari, Sindhupalchok and Dolakha. The training has been started from the 1st January and will be completed by the end of March 2022 !

The first phase of PSW training is taking place at two different locations: Kathmandu and in Sunsari Districts. In order to implement the training successfully, WFN has appointed a training coordinator in Sunsari. A well-known training center of Inkha Polyclinic has been providing the training hall, hubs for practical class and trainers. Moreover, the branch office of WFN Sunsari regularly monitors and evaluates the training.

Major Outcomes

· PSW trainings in both of the districts have been running satisfactorily.

· Trainees and trainers  have been participating with a strong enthusiasm.

· Regular internal/ weekly tests and practical classes are taking place.

· Both the WFN central office and district branch have been monitoring and providing adequate facilitation for the trainings.

Trainning of the trainers on Women’s Empowerment

10 Days Training of the Trainers on Women’s Empowerment for 40 women in Rural Nepal through Floriculture Training with the support of Marie-Schlei-Verein e. V., Germany has been started. The opening ceremony and the TOT program was started with the chairmanship of local ward member and president of the organization Ms. Kamala Upreti. This short training is designed to produce lower-level technical workforce able to work and equipped with skills, knowledge and positive attitudes related to flower management, gardening and cut flower production in order to meet the demand of such workforce in the country so as to contribute in the national streamline of poverty reduction and economic empowerment of Nepal.

Isolation Ward in Sindhupalchowk District

Amid the shortage of oxygen with a sharp increase of covid 19 patients in the hospitals the oxygen concentrators has been sent to the hospital and isolation wards in different districts. The oxygen concentrators are supported by GLS Future Foundation for development Germany. 

The Women’s Foundation has been running Quarantine and Isolation Ward Support in Sindhupalchowk district with the objective of breaking the chain of COVID-19 and reduce transmission and death toll in rural areas.

The people from the rural areas are getting the facilities of quarantine and isolation wards. Moreover, the rural population are aware about the causes, sign and symptoms, and preventive measures of COVID-19.

Distribution of Oxygen Concentrators

With the support of GLS Future Foundation for Development the Women’s Foundation have distributed 72 oxygen concentrators to the concerned isolation wards in different districts of Nepal. The oxygen concentrators are distributed to : 

  • Rural Economic Social Improvement Centre (RESIC), Nepalgunj
  • Sushma Koirala Memorial (SKM) Hospital, Sankhu-Salambutar
  • Kevin Rohan Memorial Eco Foundation (KRMEF)
  • Chalnakhel, Prisoners Assistance Mission (PAM)
  • Women Acting Together for Change (WATCH), Battisputali
  • Covid Isolation Centre, Kathmanu Metropiltan City Ward No. 17
  • Covid Isolation Centre, Kathmanu Metropiltan City Ward No. 6
  • Covid Isolation Centre, Kageshwori Manohara Municipality, Ward No. 5
  • Quarantine and Isolation Ward Centre, Melamchi Municipality -1
  • Sindhupalchowk and Women’s Foundation district offices, shelter and head office, Bouddha

Teej Celebration with WF Family

Teej is one of the greatest festival of women in Nepal. WF Family celebrated the festival of Teej with great enthusiasm. This year the festival we celebrated the festival together by organizing the program.

Also, children from WF home celebrated Teej by dancing and singing teej song with a great joy. All the woman and also children were involved in the festival.The event was a grand success and a learning experience for kids at WF home.
