Letters from Renu and the WFN staff . . .
A diary of social work in Nepal . . . February 29, 2008
The Letters from Renu on these pages detail an ongoing saga of abuse. WARNING: these letters have graphic descriptions which may be disturbing. These are stories of real people in terrible trouble. The good news is that there are many individuals who are working to set the world right in Nepal. WFN is one of the groups seeing to it that something is being done to help.
The transportation strike means no gas or kerosene, still, and that can mean no food . . . .
Dear Brian jee,
Namaskar
The child become so very happy to get a packet of hot food for him. On 24 and 25 of Feb., fourteen members of WF went to different parts of Katmandu city to ascertain the situation of poor people. They made a survey and the report is as follows:
Every petrol pump we can see long line of cars, taxi, Around 700 and more.
Some places long line of Motor bike.
No public vehicles in the road
Very few private cars we can see in the road
Today on February 27 - The Women’s Foundation distributed some cooked food for 211 children and 30 women who are in big need. I will sent the picture of today's efforts to you tomorrow.
Case: Radha Thapa is from Rame Chhap district. She was thrown out by her husband with four children. Her little child is three years old and older is 14 years old.
She is working as a laborer in different places. She got only Nrs. 100 per day and her expenses are around 400 each day - just for food. She is not able to pay the rent for her room so she is living in the small corner with her children. None of the children are attending school.
With warm regards
Renu sharma
