About Us - It is all about "Attitude" - and - Volunteering to Help Others

The Foundation for the Solidarity and Development of Women (WF) is a non-profit and non-governmental organization established in 1988 and registered in 1991 by a group of professional women, and emerged as a grass-roots women and children organization working in the community. The founders realized that the urgent problems of women, especially violence against the gender and rural poverty issues, could not be alleviated through the efforts of government alone. Complementary efforts and initiatives need to come from all other non-governmental organizations as well.

The aim of WF is to relieve the isolation, distress, poverty and victimization experienced by women and children (especially the rural poor, regardless of their caste, religion or race) and to reintroduce them into mainstream society promoting community cohesion. WF is dedicated to making a difference for women and children to improve their quality of life by providing culturally appropriate advice and guidance, legal support, medical services, education, training and employment opportunities. WF is running its program in five development regions (i.e. from eastern to far western regions). WF's activities are the following:

Safe shelter with education;
Skill development training;
Saving and Income generation program;
Employment opportunity schemes;
Legal assistance;
Counseling;
Surabhi Clinic and Pharmacy
Shelter Activites.
